Our Story
A Seeds Covenant Community has been emerging in Melbourne's inner west since 2000. Numerous staff and ex-residents from Urban Seed Melbourne have lived locally and have continued to build connections. Some have continued participating in the work of Urban Seed in the city and others have joined with local churches and organisations such as Green Collect. Many have been sustained through participation in the Common Rule, a ministry of Common Life.
In 2007 Marcus and Rachael, Chris and Katherine explored the Seeds Covenant and developing a formal partnership with Footscray Baptist Church in order to strengthen their shared life and work. They were joined by Ali, Di, Raylene, Ben and Naomi in 2008.

Our expression of the Seeds charism around Footscray includes:
Know the Word
Seeds Prayer We pray once a month at Footscray Baptist Church from 8-9pm on a Sunday.
Bible Study Series running on Tuesday Nights through 2008 on various topics, Colossians Remixed, Sermon on the Mount, Advent, Revelation etc.
Grow Home•Seeds Hospitality House
We have generously been offered use of the old Footscray Baptist Church Manse.
In 2008 the vision of the house will be to offer supported short-medium term housing for people from Urban Seed Melbourne's Credo Cafe. The aim is to provide a structured theraputic environment including meditation, food production social and local social service activities. The house will also serve as a means of building connection and experience between people interested in eventually starting an Urban Seed Rural Retreat Centre.

Wednesday Night Dinners
We share a regular meal for mutual support and informal hospitality. Sometimes we join with Footscray Salvo's in their weekly open meal.
•
Footscray Household Covenant
We participate in local Christian Economic Covenanting process made up of various local households. We often eat vege's that we purchase through "The WOC" (The Western Organic Co-op Inc.), a local organic food co-operative we helped to start in 2001.
